Case studies: sample deals from idea to shelf

These case studies are illustrative only. The companies, titles, and terms are fictional and simplified to show how typical deals unfold, not to describe any real agreement.

Case 1: Apparel capsule (illustrative). Moonfox Apparel, a US streetwear brand, licenses the fictional series Starlight Paladins for a hoodie and T-shirt line in the US and Canada. It works through a regional agent, agrees on a two-year non-exclusive term with a royalty on wholesale and a modest MG, and spends extra time in approvals getting character colors right. Launching alongside a new season helps sell-through.

Case 2: Café pop-up (illustrative). Harborlight Events, a small UK event company, runs a four-week themed café for the fictional series Garden of Clockwork Cats. The deal covers a menu, décor, and event-exclusive goods. The licensor approves every menu item name and photo, so Harborlight starts planning six months ahead.

Case 3: Snack collaboration (illustrative). Kobalt Snacks, a fictional regional snack brand, runs a limited-edition packaging collaboration. Because it is a promotion rather than an ongoing product line, the deal uses a flat fee plus a short term rather than a long royalty arrangement.
